Portland Basketball + Integrity

Hey there, Corey with Envi Adventures.

Every year about this time, the city of Portland, and the Pacific Northwest as a whole get excited about warmer weather, longer days, and outdoor activities. But, for many, they also get excited about Portland basketball i.e. the Portland Trailblazers. Whether they’re on the court at the Moda Center or away, or they’re not playing at all, Portland loves the Blazers.

Portland is a city of loyalty. The Trailblazers haven’t won a championship since 1977, haven’t been to the Finals since Clyde Drexler and Terry Porter played against Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls during the 1991-1992 season. But in spite of that, the fan base remains as does the allegiance.

As I write this, Portland prepares for a crucial home game in Portland against the Denver Nuggets. Whatever happens, win or lose, one thing is certain: people will still adore this years Trailblazer’s team. Why? Because they fight, they play as hard as they can, and the face of the franchise, Damian Lillard, is just as loyal to Portland as the fans are to the team he plays for. His honesty and humility since he joined the team have resonated with fans and throughout the NBA. He’s the type of player every team wants. He’s not only skillful, but he has character, and he stands by his word.

So, what does that have to do with Portland air tours and Envi Adventures? Nothing really. Or does it?

Integrity is a dying ingredient in society today. The sad reality is that when someone does have integrity, it catches us off guard. I get it, everyone is trying to get ahead, and sometimes confidence is confused with cockiness, and embellishment is twisted with experience. But what does it say about a person who has the proper balance of all of those things?

I think it says a lot.

In business, nobody likes a shady brand that cuts corners, and certainly nobody like lacking integrity from a business. I know I don’t. That’s why I and everyone else at Envi Adventures tries our hardest to ensure that we do everything on the up and up. You might read some less than favorable reviews about us (or any business), and that’s unavoidable. You can’t please everyone. But I know for me, that I can go to sleep every night knowing I did the best I could that day. Doesn’t mean I’m perfect, and it doesn’t mean I didn’t screw up. It just means that I tried and I’ll be a little bit better the next day.

When we fly through the Columbia River Gorge on a waterfalls tour, around Portland, Mt. Hood or on any of our adventures, our focus is you…in addition to flying safely of course. I like to describe what we do as an experience that happens to use airplanes as the means to make that happen.

Oregon is a great place, with a lot of great things to see and do. Whether you’re out by the Gorge waterfalls, or picking up a doughnut downtown Portland, support businesses that go above and beyond for you. And, if you choose to do a Portland sky tour with us, we hope we live up to your expectations. If we don’t, I hope you’ll tell me so we can make it better.

We’re humans, which means we’re not perfect. If we were, the world would be pure bliss. Until then, let’s do our best, and keep improving.
